Returning to My First Love: Technical Writing, Research, and Copilot

Reimagining Requirements Engineering for Automotive Systems: Boosting Efficiency with Generative AI Assistants (Copilot)
Every beginning has a story — but every return does too.
After years of writing about people, emotions, and introspection, I realized that a part of me missed a different kind of precision — the one that lives in formulas, structures, and clear logic. But the truth is, I never really left technical writing.
For over a decade, as a Requirements Engineer and Requirements Manager, I’ve been writing technical documentation and product specifications — clear, measurable, and consistent — with the same care for meaning and clarity.

This year, at SIITME 2025, I returned to another kind of technical writing — academic research. And it felt like coming home.
I had the privilege of presenting my paper on how Generative AI Assistants (like Copilot) can transform technical documentation and product specifications in complex automotive projects — improving clarity, traceability, and collaboration.
It was an honour to represent AUMOVIO Romania among experts, researchers, and innovators shaping the future of electronic and systems design.

Beyond the professional side, it was also an emotional milestone.
My first research paper, published in 2009, explored how to measure athletes’ heart rate at the wrist using impedance — one of the earliest concepts leading to today’s smartwatches. Back then, I was fascinated by how science could listen to the heart. Now, I’m fascinated by how Copilot and Generative AI can listen to the mind.
From body to consciousness. From sensors to meaning. And perhaps, from past to future — guided by the same force: curiosity.
If you’d like to explore more:
AI won’t replace engineers — but it will change how we think, design, and collaborate. Technical documentation writing is entering a new phase: from description to intelligent co-creation, powered by Copilot.
Thank you, SIITME, for an inspiring edition and for reminding me that passion never disappears — it just transforms until we’re ready to rediscover it.
